Wild and Fremd is a mixture of treasure hunt, mystery true crime, radio play and history podcast. In order to tell the story as accurately as possible, the creative minds behind the format, the two brothers Ole and Tore Klein, go deep into libraries and archives for each episode and decipher handwritten diaries. Some of them have never been published before, even though they are the most personal documents of historical expeditions. This is because the explorers themselves have their say. They talk about ships splintering in the ice, everyday life on board a whaler, a stolen can of pemmican, the lack of oxygen on Nanga Parbat or the hope that a small ship's cat can give in the Arctic.
